Universo Life Water, n.f.

Safe water, close to home.

Nezávadná voda, blízko domova.

We connect private donors, businesses and supporters with specific water projects in places where scarcity or water quality fundamentally affects the life of a community.

Propojujeme soukromé dárce, firmy a podporovatele s konkrétními vodními projekty v místech, kde nedostatek vody nebo její kvalita zásadně ovlivňuje život celé komunity.

MissionPoslání

Access to sustainable water resources.

Přístup k udržitelným vodním zdrojům.

The mission of the fund is to enable people in areas with a shortage of safe water to access sustainable water resources. Not a single delivery, but a source the community can keep using and maintain itself.

The purpose of the endowment fund is to support the availability of safe and healthy water, to protect and restore water resources, and to improve the living conditions of residents in areas affected by water scarcity, poverty, natural disasters, climate change or other crises.

Below the surfacePod povrchem

A well is only as good as the dry season it survives.

Studna stojí za tolik, kolik sucha přežije.

Water tables drop through the dry months. A shallow well dug by hand finds water in April and nothing in October. Drag the depth below to see where a borehole has to reach before it yields all year.

Hladina podzemní vody v období sucha klesá. Mělká kopaná studna najde v dubnu vodu a v říjnu nic. Posuvníkem níže zkuste, kam až musí vrt sahat, aby dával vodu po celý rok.

How we buildJak stavíme

What a finished well is made of.

Z čeho se hotová studna skládá.

A borehole is not just a hole with a pump on top. Ten parts have to be right, and most of them are invisible once the concrete sets. This is the cutaway we work from on every site.

  1. Pump head and handleHlava pumpy a páka Sealed where it meets the casing, so nothing can fall into the hole. V místě napojení na pažnici utěsněná, aby do vrtu nic nespadlo.
  2. Concrete apronBetonový límec Two metres across and sloped away from the pump, so spilt water cannot run back down the hole.
  3. Drainage channel and soakawayOdtokový žlab a vsakovací jáma Carries waste water clear of the pump, so no standing pool forms where people queue.
  4. Sanitary sealHygienický uzávěr Cement grout filling the gap around the casing for the first three metres. This is what keeps surface dirt out of the aquifer. Cementová zálivka vyplňující mezeru kolem pažnice v prvních třech metrech. Právě ta brání povrchové nečistotě dostat se do zvodně.
  5. PVC casingPVC pažnice Holds the hole open from the surface down to the bottom. Drží vrt otevřený od povrchu až ke dnu.
  6. Rising main and pump rodsVýtlačné potrubí a táhla The pipe the water travels up, and the steel rods that drive the piston below. Potrubí, kterým voda stoupá, a ocelová táhla pohánějící píst pod nimi.
  7. Gravel packŠtěrkový obsyp Graded gravel packed around the screen. It lets water through and holds fine sand back. Tříděný štěrk kolem perforace. Propouští vodu a zadržuje jemný písek.
  8. Slotted screenPerforovaná část The only section open to the aquifer. Its length and position decide how much the well yields. Jediná část otevřená do zvodně. Její délka a poloha rozhodují o vydatnosti.
  9. Pump cylinderVálec pumpy Set below the lowest water level of the year, so it never runs dry. Osazený pod nejnižší roční hladinou, aby nikdy neběžel nasucho.
  10. Sediment trapKalník A closed length below the screen where fine sand settles instead of reaching the pump. Uzavřený úsek pod perforací, kde se usazuje jemný písek místo aby se dostal do pumpy.

From gift to sourceOd daru ke zdroji

Four stages, in order.

Čtyři fáze, v pořadí.

01

Survey and agreementPrůzkum a dohoda

Hydrogeological survey of the site, and a written agreement with the community on who owns and maintains the source.

Hydrogeologický průzkum lokality a písemná dohoda s komunitou o tom, kdo zdroj vlastní a udržuje.

02

Drilling and constructionVrtání a stavba

Drilling, casing and screening to the depth the survey calls for, then the apron, drainage and pump.

Vrtání, pažení a perforace do hloubky podle průzkumu, poté obetonování, odvodnění a pumpa.

03

Testing and handoverTesty a předání

Yield test and water quality analysis before the source is handed to the community with a trained local caretaker.

Vydatnostní zkouška a rozbor kvality vody, než je zdroj předán komunitě se zaškoleným místním správcem.

04

Maintenance and reportingÚdržba a zpráva

Spare parts, return visits, and a report back to the donors who funded that specific source.

Náhradní díly, následné kontroly a zpráva zpět dárcům, kteří daný zdroj financovali.

Missions we supportMise, které podporujeme

We fund teams already in the field.

Financujeme týmy, které už jsou v terénu.

Building a well needs a drilling rig, a hydrogeologist and a crew who know the ground. Rather than duplicate that, we direct donations to established organisations that already have all three, and we report back on the specific sources our donors paid for.

A Canadian registered charity that has been drilling and repairing wells for more than thirty years. They train local teams across six areas of water, sanitation and hygiene work, then hand the implementation to those teams rather than running it from abroad. Their own reporting puts the total at more than 8.8 million people reached with safe water since 1995.

Kanadská registrovaná charita, která vrtá a opravuje studny už více než třicet let. Školí místní týmy v šesti oblastech práce s vodou, sanitací a hygienou a realizaci pak předává těmto týmům, místo aby ji řídila ze zahraničí.
